✧ When allegiance was pledged to 'Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Khuzaymah ibn Thābit said while standing before the pulpit: "[al-baḥr al-ṭawīl] If we pledge allegiance to 'Alī, then Abū Ḥasan suffices us from the turmoils we fear. We found him the most worthy of people for the people, for he is the most knowledgeable of Quraysh in the Book and the Sunnahs. And Quraysh cannot stir his dust when he runs one day on the lean, stout camels. In him is all the good that is in them, and not in them is all the good that is in him of excellence." Al-Dhahabī remained silent about it in the Talkhīṣ.
