✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ appointed Abu Bakr over us, and we raided people from Banu Fazara. When we approached a watering place, Abu Bakr ordered us, and we halted for rest. When we prayed the morning prayer, Abu Bakr ordered us, and we launched the raid. We reached the water and killed there whom we killed. A group of people turned away, including women and children, and they almost reached the mountain. We shot an arrow between them and the mountain, and when they saw the arrow, they stopped. I brought them, driving them to Abu Bakr. Among them was a woman from Banu Fazara wearing a worn leather garment, and with her was a daughter of hers, one of the most beautiful of the Arabs. Abu Bakr gave me her daughter as booty. I came to Madinah, and the Messenger of God ﷺ met me in the market and said, "O Salama, may your father be for God's sake; give me the woman." I said, "By God, O Messenger of God, I have not uncovered a garment for her; and she is yours, O Messenger of God." The Messenger of God ﷺ sent her to Makkah and ransomed with her Muslim captives who were in the hands of the polytheists. [Muslim extracted it with a different wording.]" Muslim extracted it with another wording.
