✧ Waraqah b. Nawfal b. Asad b. 'Abd al-'Uzza, regarding what Khadijah mentioned to him about the affairs of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, recited poetry: "[meter: al-basit] O for men, and the turns of time and destiny, and what is there for anything Allah has decreed of change; even Khadijah calls me to inform her, but she has no knowledge of the hidden unseen. She came to ask me about him, to tell her of a matter I see will come to people of later times. She told me of something I had heard of in the ancient past and ages: that Ahmad will come and Gabriel will tell him that you are sent to mankind. I said: Perhaps what you hope for, Allah will fulfill for you, so hope for good and wait. Send him to us so that we may question him about his affair, what he sees in sleep and wakefulness. Then when he came to us, he spoke amazing words at which the skin and hair stood on end: 'I saw the Trusted One of Allah facing me in a form perfected of the most majestic forms.' Then it continued, and fear would terrify me from what it greeted of the trees around me. I said: I think, though I do not know if he will prove me true, that you will be sent reciting the revealed surahs, and I will come to you if you proclaim their call to jihad without reproach or distress."
