أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَحْمَسِيُّ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ السُّلَمِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَ عِلْمُ اللَّهِ وَحِكْمَتُهُ فِي ذُرِّيَّةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ آتَى اللَّهُ يُوسُفَ بْنَ يَعْقُوبَ مُلْكَ الْأَرْضِ الْمُقَدَّسَةِ فَمَلَكَ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَسَبْعِينَ سَنَةً وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ ﷻ {رَبِّ قَدْ آتَيْتَنِي مِنَ الْمُلْكِ وَعَلَّمْتَنِي مِنْ تَأْوِيلِ الْأَحَادِيثِ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ} الْآيَةُ فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ بَعَثَ اللَّهُ مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ فَأَوْرَثَهُمَا مَشَارِقَ الْأَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبَهَا وَمَلَّكْهُمَا مُلْكًا نَاعِمًا فَمَلَكَ مُوسَى وَمَنْ مَعَهُ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ثَمَانٍ وَثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً ثُمَّ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى أَرَادَ

أَنْ يَرُدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَمَلَّكَهُمْ مَشَارِقَ الْأَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبَهَا وَآتَاهُمْ مُلْكًا عَظِيمًا حَتَّى سَأَلُوا أَنْ يَنْظُرُوا إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ فَقَالُوا أَرِنَا اللَّهَ جَهْرَةً وَذَلِكَ حِينَ رَأَوْا مُوسَى كَلَّمَهُ رَبَّهُ وَسَمِعُوا فَطَلَبُوا الرُّؤْيَةَ وَكَانَ مُوسَى انْتَقَى خِيَارَهُمْ لِيَشْهَدُوا لَهُ عِنْدَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَنَّ رَبَّهُ قَدْ كَلَّمَهُ فَقَالُوا لَنْ نَشْهَدَ لَكَ حَتَّى تُرِيَنَا اللَّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ

Yaʿqūb Mulk al-Arḍ al-Muqaddasah Famalak Āthnatayn Wasabʿīn Sanah Wadhalik Qawluh ﷻ Rab Qad Ātaytanī Min al-Mulk Waʿallamtanī Min Taʾwīl al-Aḥādīth Fāṭir al-Samawāt Wa-al-Arḍ al-Āyah Faʿind Dhalik Baʿath Allāh Mūsá Wahārūn Faʾawrathahumā Mashāriq al-Arḍ Wamaghāribahā Wamallakhumā Mulk Nāʿim Famalak Mūsá Waman Maʿah Min Banī Isrāʾīl Thamān Wathamānīn Sanah Thum In Allāh Taʿālá Arād

✧ That he should return that to them, so He gave them dominion over the eastern and western parts of the earth and granted them a great kingdom, until they asked to look at their Lord. They said, "Show us Allah plainly," and that was when they saw Moses and his Lord spoke to him, and they heard, so they sought the vision. Moses had selected the best of them to testify for him before the Children of Israel that his Lord had indeed spoken to him, but they said, "We will never testify for you until you show us Allah plainly." So the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on.
