✧ That al-Walid b. al-Mughirah came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he recited the Quran to him, and it seemed that he softened towards it. That reached Abu Jahl, so he came to him and said, "O uncle, your people see that they should gather wealth for you." He said, "Why?" He said, "To give it to you, for you went to Muhammad to expose yourself to what he has." He said, "Quraysh knows that I am among the wealthiest of them." He said, "Then say something about him that will reach your people, that you are a denier of him or that you dislike him." He said, "What should I say? By Allah, there is no man among you more knowledgeable about poetry than I, nor more knowledgeable about rajaz or qasidah than I, nor about the poetry of the jinn. By Allah, what he says resembles nothing of this. By Allah, his speech has sweetness, and upon it is a beauty, and it is fruitful at its top and abundant at its bottom, and it ascends and is not ascended upon, and it crushes what is beneath it." He said, "Your people will not be pleased with you until you say something about it." He said, "Leave me so that I may think." When he thought, he said, "This is magic transmitted; he learns it from someone else." Then was revealed: {Leave Me with the one I created alone} [Al-Muddaththir: 11].
