حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَطَّةَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ثنا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ يَطَؤُهَا فَلَمْ تَزَلْ بِهِ عَائِشَةُ وَحَفْصَةُ حَتَّى جَعَلَهَا عَلَى نَفْسِهِ حَرَامًا فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَا أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ لَكَ تَبْتَغِي مَرْضَاتَ أَزْوَاجِكَ} [التحريم 1] إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a female slave with whom he had relations. ʿAʾishah and Hafsah kept at him until he made her forbidden upon himself. So Allah revealed this verse: {O Prophet, why do you forbid what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking the pleasure of your wives?} [al-Tahrim 1] to the end of the verse.
