حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ الْحَفِيدُ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ النَّهْدِيُّ ثنا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّهُ تَلَا قَوْلَ اللَّهِ ﷻ {إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ} [الحجرات 13] فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي جَعَلْتُ نَسَبًا وَجَعَلْتُمْ نَسَبًا فَجَعَلْتُ أَكْرَمَكُمْ أَتْقَاكُمْ وَأَبَيْتُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ تَقُولُوا فُلَانُ ابْنُ فُلَانٍ أَكْرَمُ مِنْ فُلَانِ بْنِ فُلَانٍ وَإِنِّي الْيَوْمَ أَرْفَعُ نَسَبِي وَأَضَعُ أَنْسَابَكُمْ أَيْنَ الْمُتَّقُونَ أَيْنَ الْمُتَّقُونَ قَالَ طَلْحَةُ فَقَالَ لِي عَطَاءٌ يَا طَلْحَةُ مَا أَكْثَرَ الْأَسْمَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى اسْمِي وَاسْمِكَ فَإِذَا دُعِيَ فَلَا يَقُومُ إِلَّا مَنْ عُنِيَسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ He recited Allah's saying ﷻ: {Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous} [al-Hujurat 13], then said: "Allah says on the Day of Resurrection: 'O people, I established a lineage and you established a lineage. I made the most noble of you the most righteous, but you refused except to say: So-and-so son of so-and-so is more noble than so-and-so son of so-and-so. Today I raise My lineage and lower your lineages. Where are the righteous? Where are the righteous?'" Ṭalḥah said: ʿAṭāʾ said to me: "O Ṭalḥah, how many names on the Day of Resurrection will be like mine and yours? When one is called, only the one intended will stand." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
