حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّهُ بَيْنَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ خَرَجْتُ أَنْ أَتَسَمَّتُ بِسَمْتِكَ وَأَقْتَدِي بِكَ فِي أَمْرِ فُرْقَةِ النَّاسِ وَأَعْتَزِلُ الشَّرَّ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ آيَةً مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ مُحْكَمَةً قَدْ أَخَذَتْ بِقَلْبِي فَأَخْبِرْنِي عَنْهَا أَرَأَيْتَ قَوْلَ اللَّهِ ﷻ {وَإِنْ طَائِفَتَانِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اقْتَتَلُوا فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَهُمَا فَإِنْ بَغَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى فَقَاتِلُوا الَّتِي تَبْغِي حَتَّى تَفِيءَ إِلَى أَمْرِ اللَّهِ فَإِنْ فَاءَتْ فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَهُمَا بِالْعَدْلِ وَأَقْسِطُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ}

✧ While he was sitting with ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar, a man from the people of Iraq came to him and said: "O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, by Allah, I have set out to follow your way and emulate you in the matter of the people's division, and to avoid evil as much as I can, and to recite a clear verse from the Book of Allah that has taken hold of my heart. So tell me about it. What do you think of Allah's saying ﷻ: {And if two factions among the believers fight, then make peace between them. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the command of Allah. And if it returns, then make peace between them with justice and act equitably. Indeed, Allah loves those who act equitably}?"

  • [الحجرات 9] أَخْبِرْنِي عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ «مَا لَكَ وَلِذَلِكَ انْصَرِفْ عَنِّي» فَقَامَ الرَّجُلُ فَانْطَلَقَ حَتَّى إِذَا تَوَارَيْنَا سَوَادَهُ أَقْبَلَ إِلَيْنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ «مَا وَجَدْتُ فِي نَفْسِي فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ إِلَّا مَا وَجَدْتُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنِّي لَمْ أُقَاتِلْ هَذِهِ الْفِئَةَ الْبَاغِيَةَ كَمَا أَمَرَنِي اللَّهُ تَعَالَى» هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط البخاري ومسلم
