فَحَدَّثْنَاهُ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ ثنا هُشَيْمٌ أَنْبَأَ دَاوُدُ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسُ عَلَيْنَا فِي هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ {قُلْ لَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَى} [الشورى 23] فَكَتَبْنَا إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ نَسْأَلُهُ
عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَكَتَبَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ «كَانَ أَوْسَطَ بَيْتٍ فِي قُرَيْشٍ لَيْسَ بَطْنٌ مِنْ بُطُونِهِمْ إِلَّا قَدْ وَلَدَهُ» فَقَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {قُلْ لَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا} [الأنعام 90] إِلَى مَا أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَيْهِ إِلَّا أَنْ تَوَدُّونِي بِقَرَابَتِي مِنْكُمْ وَتَحْفَظُونِي بِهَا قَالَ هُشَيْمٌ وَأَخْبَرَنِي حُصَيْنٌ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ بِنَحْوٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ

✧ About that, Ibn Abbas wrote: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ "was of the middle house of Quraysh; there was no clan of theirs except that it had given birth to him." So Allah ﷻ said, "Say: I do not ask you for any reward for it" [al-An'am 90] up to what I call you to, except that you love me because of my kinship with you and protect me through it. Hushaym said: And Husayn reported to me from Ikrimah from Ibn Abbas something similar to that.
