✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "May Allah have mercy on Musa. The one who sees with his own eyes is not like the one who is told. His Lord informed him that his people were tempted after him, so he did not throw down the tablets; but when he saw them and witnessed them, he threw down the tablets." And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "May Allah have mercy on Musa. Had he not been hasty, other things about his story would have been narrated besides what has been narrated."

machine translationHushaym is a well-known man, and the imams wrote down from him. In himself he is not objectionable, except that he was ascribed to concealment (tadlīs). He has various compilations, good hadiths and unusual ones (gharāʾib). When he narrates from a trustworthy person, there is no harm in him. Sometimes he errs, and some of his hadiths are found to be rejected (munkar) when he practised concealment (tadlīs) in his narration from someone who is not trustworthy. Shuʿbah, al-Thawrī, Mālik, Ibn Mahdī, Ibn Abī ʿAdī and other imams narrated from him, and there is no harm in him or in his narrations.
