✧ He recited: {Except one who has taken from the Most Merciful a covenant} [Maryam: 87], and said: They have taken a covenant from the Most Merciful, for Allah will say on the Day of Resurrection: Whoever has a covenant with Me, let him stand. He said: We said: Teach us, O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman. He said: Say: O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, I pledge to You in this worldly life that I bear witness that there is no god but You alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger. If You entrust me to myself, You will bring me near evil and remove me from good. I trust only in Your mercy, so make it for me a covenant with You that You will fulfill for me on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not break the promise.
