✧ Ishaq narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, al-Thawri informed us, from Firas, from al-Sha'bi, from Masruq, who said: I recited in the presence of 'Abd Allah b. Mas'ud: {Indeed, Ibrahim was a nation, devoutly obedient to Allah} [al-Nahl 120]. He said: Ibn Mas'ud said: Indeed, Mu'adh was a nation, devoutly obedient. He said: They repeated it to him, and he repeated it, then said: Do you know what al-ummah is? The one who teaches people good, and al-qanit is the one who obeys Allah and His Messenger.
