أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ دُحَيْمٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ الْغِفَارِيُّ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَقَبِيصَةُ قَالَا ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

دَعَانَا رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَبْلَ تَحْرِيمِ الْخَمْرِ فَحَضَرَتْ صَلَاةُ الْمَغْرِبِ فَتَقَدَّمَ رَجُلٌ فَقَرَأَ قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ فَالْتَبَسَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَزَلَتْ {لَا تَقْرَبُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَأَنْتُمْ سُكَارَى حَتَّى تَعْلَمُوا مَا تَقُولُونَ}

✧ A man from the Ansar invited us before wine was forbidden. When the Maghrib prayer came, a man went forward and recited 'Say, O disbelievers,' but he became confused. Then it was revealed: {Do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying}.
