✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, which places are best? He said: "I do not know." He said: Which places are worst? He said: "I do not know." He said: Ask your Lord. He said: When Gabriel descended, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I was asked which places are best and which places are worst, and I said I do not know. Gabriel said: And I do not know until I ask my Lord. He said: Gabriel shuddered with a shudder that almost made Muhammad ﷺ swoon from it. Then Allah said: O Gabriel, Muhammad asks you which places are best, and you said I do not know, and he asks you which places are worst, and you said I do not know. Verily, the best of places are the mosques, and the worst of places are the marketplaces.
