✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent to me, saying: 'Put on your clothes and your weapon, then come to me.' So I put on my clothes and my weapon and went to him. I found him sitting and performing ablution. He looked up at me, then lowered his gaze, then said: 'O 'Amr, I intend to send you on an expedition. May Allah grant you spoils and keep you safe, and I desire for you a righteous desire for wealth.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I did not embrace Islam for wealth; I embraced Islam out of desire for Islam and to be with you.' He said: 'O 'Amr, excellent is righteous wealth for a righteous man'—meaning with a fathah on the nun and a kasrah on the 'ayn. [This is] a sahih hadith according to the condition of Muslim due to the narration of Musa b. 'Ali b. Rabah, and according to the condition of al-Bukhari for Abu Salih. Sahih.
