✧ A man came to me while I was praying and said, 'May your mother be bereaved of you! Do I not see you praying when it has been commanded that the Book of Allah be torn to pieces, every piece?' He said, 'So I shortened my prayer, and I used to sit, but I entered the house without sitting, and I climbed without sitting, and there I found al-Ash'ari, Hudhayfah, and Ibn Mas'ud disputing, and Hudhayfah was saying to Ibn Mas'ud, "Hand this mushaf over to them." He said, "By Allah, I will not hand it over to them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made me recite seventy-some surahs; shall I then hand it over to them? By Allah, I will not hand it over to them."'
