فَحَدَّثْنَاهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ أَنْبَأَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى أَنْبَأَ عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

أَسْلَمَ غَيْلَانُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الثَّقَفِيُّ وَلَهُ عَشْرُ نِسْوَةٍ «فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَخَيَّرَ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا وَيَتْرُكَ سَائِرَهُنَّ» وَهَكَذَا وَجَدْتُ الْحَدِيثَ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْيَمَامَةِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ

Translation

✧ Ghaylan b. Salamah al-Thaqafi accepted Islam while he had ten wives, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him to choose four of them and leave the rest. And thus I found the hadith among the people of al-Yamamah from Ma'mar.
