✧ I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ missed Hamzah when the people returned from the fighting. A man said, "I saw him near those trees, saying: I am the lion of Allah and the lion of His Messenger. O Allah, I declare myself innocent before You of what these have brought — Abu Sufyan and his companions — and I apologize to You for what these have done by their defeat." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went towards him, and when he saw his side, he wept; and when he saw what had been done to him, he sobbed. Then he said, "Is there not a shroud?" A man of the Ansar stood and threw a garment over him, then another stood and threw a garment over him. He said, "O Jabir, this garment is for your father, and this is for my uncle Hamzah." Then Hamzah was brought, and he prayed over him. Then the martyrs were brought and placed beside Hamzah, and he prayed over them, and they were raised, but Hamzah was left until he had prayed over all the martyrs. He said: I returned while I was burdened, for my father had left upon me a debt and dependents. When it was night, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for me and said, "O Jabir, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, has revived your father and spoken to him with words." I said, "And He spoke to him with words?" He said, "He said to him: Make a wish. He said: I wish that You return my soul and create my form as it was and return me to Your Prophet so that I may fight in the way of Allah and be killed another time. He said: I have decreed that they shall not return." He said: And he ﷺ said, "The master of the martyrs before Allah on the Day of Resurrection is Hamzah."
