أَخْبرَنَا الشَّيْخُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ هُوَ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ثنا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَتَخَلَّفُ عَنِ الْمَسِيرِ فَيُزْجِي الضَّعِيفَ وَيُرْدِفُ وَيَدْعُو لَهُمْ» صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ على شرط مسلم

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lag behind the march, and he would urge on the weak, take someone up behind him, and supplicate for them. Sahih according to the condition of Muslim, but they did not include it.
