✧ "Every act of kindness is charity. What a man spends on himself and his family is recorded for him as charity, and what a person uses to protect his honor is recorded for him as charity. Whatever a believer spends, if he leaves it to Allah, Allah is its guarantor, except what is in building or disobedience."

Notes

machine translationI said to Muḥammad b. al-Munkadir: "What is it that the man protects his honour with?" He said: "What he gives to the poet and to the one whose sharp tongue is feared." "This ḥadīth is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ), but they did not include it in their collections, and its supporting narration is not of the condition of this book." ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd: they declared him weak.
