✧ I heard Abu Sa'id al-Sa'idi and Ibn Abbas giving a fatwa that a dinar for two dinars is permissible. Abu Usayd al-Sa'idi said to him and was harsh with him. He said: Ibn Abbas said: I never thought that anyone who knows my kinship to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say such a thing to me, O Abu Usayd. Abu Usayd said: I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'A dinar for a dinar, a dirham for a dirham, a sa' of wheat for a sa' of wheat, a sa' of barley for a sa' of barley, a sa' of salt for a sa' of salt, no excess between them in any of that.' Ibn Abbas said: This is only something I used to say and I had not heard anything about it.
