✧ that when Salman came to Madinah, he brought the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a gift on a tray and placed it before him. He said, "What is this, O Salman?" He said, "Charity for you and your companions." He said, "I do not eat charity." So he removed it. Then the next day he came to him with something similar and placed it before him. He said, "What is this?" He said, "A gift for you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his companions, "Eat." He said, "To whom do you belong?" He said, "To a people." He said, "Ask them to enter into a contract of manumission with you." He said, "They contracted with me for such and such palm trees that I would plant for them, and Salman would tend them until they bore fruit." He said, "They did so." He said, "The Prophet ﷺ came and planted all the palms except one palm that 'Umar planted. His palms bore fruit that year except that one palm. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Who planted it?' They said, ''Umar.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ planted it with his own hand, and it bore fruit that same year."
