✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to perform the Hajj. A woman said to her husband, 'Take me for Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said, 'I do not have what I could use to take you for Hajj.' She said, 'Then take me for Hajj on your camel.' He said, 'That one we use alternately, myself and your child.' She said, 'Then take me for Hajj on your such-and-such camel.' He said, 'That one is devoted for the cause of Allah.' She said, 'Then sell your dates.' He said, 'That is my sustenance and yours.' He said, 'When the Prophet ﷺ returned from Makkah, she sent her husband to him and said, 'Convey my greetings to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ask him what equals a Hajj with you?' Her husband came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, my wife conveys greetings to you and the mercy of Allah, and she said to take her for Hajj with you, and I told her I do not have [the means]. She said, 'Then take me for Hajj on my such-and-such camel,' and I told her that it is devoted for the cause of Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Indeed, if you had taken her for Hajj, it would have been in the cause of Allah.' The Prophet ﷺ then laughed in amazement at her eagerness for Hajj. He said, 'And she ordered me to ask you what equals a Hajj with you?' He said, 'Convey to her my greetings and the mercy of Allah, and inform her that an Umrah in Ramadan equals a Hajj with me.'
