✧ As for the story of Samurah b. Jundub
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى الْقَاضِي ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَا ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ فَذَكَرَهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ وَنَحْوِهِ «هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ مَحْفُوظٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الثَّوْرِيِّ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ وَعِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ السُّلَمِيِّ تَابِعِيٌّ كَبِيرٌ مُحْتَجٌّ بِهِ وَإِنَّمَا أَهْمَلَا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ لِخِلَافٍ وَقَعَ مِنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ وَيَحْيَى كَثِيرُ الْوَهْمِ عَلَى أَبِيهِ»
Translation
✧ Abu Abdullah Muhammad b. Abdullah al-Asbahani narrated to us: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Isa al-Qadi narrated to us: Abu Nu'aym and Muhammad b. Kathir narrated to us, they said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Salama b. Kuhayl—then he mentioned it with its chain and similar wording: "This is a sahih hadith, preserved from the hadith of al-Thawri, from Salama b. Kuhayl, and Imran b. al-Hakam al-Sulami is a senior tabi'i, relied upon as proof. They only left this hadith aside, and Allah knows best, due to a discrepancy occurring from Yahya b. Salama b. Kuhayl in its chain, and Yahya made many errors from his father."
