أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ثنا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ قَالَ
عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ غَسَّلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَذَهَبْتُ أَنْظُرُ مَا يَكُونُ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ فَلَمْ أَرَ شَيْئًا وَكَانَ طَيِّبًا ﷺ حَيًّا وَمَيِّتًا وَلِيَ دَفْنَهُ وَإِجْنَانَهُ دُونَ النَّاسِ أَرْبَعَةٌ عَلِيٌّ وَالْعَبَّاسُ وَالْفَضْلُ وَصَالِحٌ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلُحِدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَحْدًا وَنُصِبَ عَلَيْهِ اللَّبِنُ نَصْبًا

✧ Ali ibn Abi Talib, I washed the Messenger of Allah, then I went to see what would happen to the deceased, but I did not see anything. He was a good person, both alive and dead. I had the duty to bury him and shroud him. Four people were with me: Ali, al-Abbas, al-Fadl, and Salih, who was a servant of the Messenger of Allah. We buried the Messenger of Allah according to Islamic customs, and poured milk over his grave.
