أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ الْعَنَزِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّيْدَلَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ قَالَا ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا فَائِدٌ أَبُو الْوَرْقَاءِ الْعَطَّارُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى قَالَ
خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا فَقَعَدَ فَقَالَ مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ حَاجَةٌ إِلَى اللَّهِ أَوْ إِلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وَلْيُحْسِنْ وُضُوءَهُ ثُمَّ لِيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يُثْنِي عَلَى اللَّهِ وَيُصَلِّي عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلْيَقُلْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ أَسْأَلُكَ عَزَائِمَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ وَالْعِصْمَةَ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ وَالسَّلَامَةَ مِنْ كُلِّ إِثْمٍ «فَائِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبُو الْوَرْقَاءِ كُوفِيٌّ عِدَادُهُ فِي التَّابِعِينَ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ جَمَاعَةً مِنْ أَعْقَابِهِ وَهُوَ مُسْتَقِيمُ الْحَدِيثِ إِلَّا أَنَّ الشَّيْخَيْنِ لَمْ يُخَرِّجَا عَنْهُ وَإِنَّمَا جَعَلْتُ حَدِيثَهُ هَذَا شَاهِدًا لِمَا تَقَدَّمَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us one day and sat down, then said: 'Whoever has a need from Allah or from any of the children of Adam, let him perform ablution and perfect his ablution, then pray two rak'ahs, then praise Allah, and invoke blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, and say: There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. I ask You for the determinations of Your forgiveness, protection from every sin, and safety from every wrongdoing.' Fā'id b. 'Abd al-Raḥmān Abū al-Warqā' is a Kufan, counted among the successors. I have seen a group of his descendants, and he is upright in hadith, except that the two shaykhs did not transmit from him. I have made this hadith of his only as a corroborating witness for what preceded.

وهذا الحديث إنما ذكرناه عن فايد وإن كان فايد ليس بالقوي لأنا لم نحفظ لفظ هذا الحديث عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلا من هذا الوجه بهذا الإسناد فلذلك ذكرناه
machine translationWe mentioned this hadith only on the authority of Fāyid, even though Fāyid is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī), because we have not preserved the wording of this hadith from the Prophet ﷺ except through this route with this chain of transmission. For that reason we mentioned it.
