✧ The expedition of Dhū Amar. When the Messenger of God ﷺ returned from the expedition of al-Sawīq, he stayed in Madinah for the remainder of Dhū al-Ḥijjah or close to it. Then he raided Najd, intending Ghatafān—that is the expedition of Dhū Amar—and he appointed ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān over Madinah, according to what Ibn Hishām said. Ibn Isḥāq said: He stayed in Najd for all of Ṣafar or close to that, then returned to Madinah, having met no hostile force. He remained there for the entire month of Rabīʿ al-Awwal, or all but a little of it.
