✧ If a woman's menstruation days coincide with her istihada days

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يَقُولُ كَتَبَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ إِنِّي أُسْتَحَاضُ فَلَا أَطْهُرُ وَإِنِّي أُذَكِّرُكُمَا اللَّهُ إِلَّا أَفْتَيْتُمَانِي وَإِنِّي سَأَلْتُ

عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالُوا كَانَ عَلِيٌّ يَقُولُ «تَغْتَسِلُ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ» فَقَرَأْتُ وَكَتَبْتُ الْجَوَابَ بِيَدِي مَا أَجِدُ لَهَا إِلَّا مَا قَالَ عَلِيٌّ فَقِيلَ إِنَّ الْكُوفَةَ أَرْضٌ بَارِدَةٌ فَقَالَ لَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَابْتَلَاهَا بِأَشَدَّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ

✧ About that, they said: Ali used to say, 'She should perform ghusl for every prayer.' So I read and wrote the answer with my own hand: I find nothing for her except what Ali said. It was said, 'Kufa is a cold land.' He replied, 'If Allah willed, He could have tested her with something more severe than that.'
