✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ counted them on my hand—or he said: he counted them on his hand while his hand was in mine: “Subhan Allah is half of the scale, al-hamdu lillah fills the scale, Allahu akbar fills what is between the heaven and the earth, wudu is half of faith, and fasting is half of patience.”

machine translationAbū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Al-Thawrī, Jarīr b. Ḥāzim, ʿAbdullāh b. al-Mukhtār, Abū al-Aḥwaṣ and Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from Jarī al-Nahdī, from a man of Banū Sulaym, from the Prophet ﷺ. Likewise Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq and ʿĀṣim b. Abī al-Najūd narrated it from Jarī al-Nahdī, from a man of Banū Sulaym. Ibn Shawdhab narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from a man of Banū Sulaym, and did not mention Jarī in it. The first is more correct (aṣaḥḥ).
