✧ Luqman said to his son: 'O my son, do not learn knowledge to vie with the scholars, to argue with the foolish, or to show off in gatherings. And do not abandon knowledge out of indifference to it and desire for ignorance. When you see people remembering Allah, sit with them: if you are knowledgeable, your knowledge will benefit you, and if you are ignorant, they will teach you. Perhaps Allah will look upon them with His mercy, and it will reach you along with them. And when you see people not remembering Allah, do not sit with them: if you are knowledgeable, your knowledge will not benefit you, and if you are ignorant, they will increase you in error or inability. Perhaps Allah will look upon them with displeasure, and it will reach you along with them.'
