Virtue of Knowledge and the Scholar

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ يَقُولُ

«يُرَادُ لِلْعِلْمِ الْحِفْظُ وَالْعَمَلُ وَالِاسْتِمَاعُ وَالْإِنْصَاتُ وَالنَّشْرُ»

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. ʿUbaydullāh b. Saʿīd
  2. Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah

✧ "For knowledge, what is required is memorization, acting upon it, listening, attentiveness, and dissemination."
