✧ Who said: "Knowledge is fear and mindfulness of Allah"?

أَخْبَرَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قَالَ

«كَتَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ أنَّهُ مَنْ تَعَبَّدَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ كَانَ مَا يُفْسِدُ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا يُصْلِحُ وَمَنْ عَدَّ كَلَامَهُ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ قَلَّ كَلَامُهُ إِلَّا فِيمَا يَعْنِيهِ وَمَنْ جَعَلَ دِينَهُ غَرَضًا لِلْخُصُومَاتِ كَثُرَ تَنَقُّلُهُ»

Translation

✧ "ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz wrote to the people of Madinah: Whoever worships without knowledge, what he corrupts is more than what he sets right. Whoever counts his speech as part of his action, his speech becomes little except in what concerns him. Whoever makes his religion a target for disputes, his shifting will become frequent."
