أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ أَنْبَأَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ قَالَ
قَامَ أُنَاسٌ فِي إِمَارَةِ مُعَاوِيَةَ يَبِيعُونَ آنِيَةَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ إِلَى الْعَطَاءِ فَقَامَ عُبَادَةُ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ «نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الذَّهَبِ بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ بِالْفِضَّةِ وَالْبُرِّ بِالْبُرِّ وَالتَّمْرِ بِالتَّمْرِ وَالشَّعِيرِ بِالشَّعِيرِ وَالْمِلْحِ بِالْمِلْحِ إِلَّا مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ فَمَنْ زَادَ أَوِ ازْدَادَ فَقَدْ أَرْبَى»

✧ Some people during the rule of Mu'awiyah stood up selling vessels of gold and silver for a deferred payment. 'Ubadah b. al-Samit stood up and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade selling gold for gold, silver for silver, wheat for wheat, dates for dates, barley for barley, and salt for salt, except like for like, equal for equal. Whoever increases or asks for an increase has engaged in riba."
