أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ نُبَيْحٍ الْعَنَزِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

غَزَوْنَا أَوْ سَافَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِضْعَةَ عَشَرَ وَمِائَتَانِ فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «هَلْ فِي الْقَوْمِ مِنْ طَهُورٍ؟» فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَى بِإِدَاوَةٍ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ مَاءٍ لَيْسَ فِي الْقَوْمِ مَاءٌ غَيْرُهُ فَصَبَّهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي قَدَحٍ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ وَتَرَكَ الْقَدَحَ فَرَكِبَ النَّاسُ ذَلِكَ الْقَدَحَ وَقَالُوا تَمَسَّحُوا تَمَسَّحُوا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «عَلَى رِسْلِكُمْ» حِينَ سَمِعَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ ذَلِكَ «فَوَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَفَّهُ فِي الْمَاءِ وَالْقَدَحِ» وَقَالَ «بِسْمِ اللَّهِ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَسْبِغُوا الطُّهُورَ» فَوَالَّذِي هُوَ ابْتَلَانِي بِبَصَرِي لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْعُيُونَ عُيُونَ الْمَاءِ تَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَصَابِعِهِ فَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهَا حَتَّى تَوَضَّئُوا أَجْمَعُونَ

✧ We raided or traveled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we were that day some two hundred and ten men. The prayer time came, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Is there any water for purification among the people?" A man came running with a small vessel containing a little water; the people had no water other than it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ poured it into a bowl, then performed ablution and did it well. Then he left and left the bowl, and the people crowded around that bowl and said, "Wipe yourselves, wipe yourselves." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Gently," when he heard them saying that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his palm in the water and the bowl, and said, "In the name of Allah." Then he said, "Perform ablution thoroughly." By the One who tested me with my sight, I saw the springs—springs of water—coming out from between his fingers, and he did not lift them until they all had performed ablution.
