Sunan ad-Darimi 2571

✧ In the one who belongs to others, but not to his supporters

حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَارِجَةَ قَالَ

كُنْتُ تَحْتَ نَاقَةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «مَنِ ادَّعَى إِلَى غَيْرِ أَبِيهِ أَوِ انْتَمَى إِلَى غَيْرِ مَوَالِيهِ رَغْبَةً عَنْهُمْ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ صَرْفٌ وَلَا عَدْلٌ»

Translation

✧ I was under the camel of the Prophet ﷺ, and I heard him say, «Whoever claims descent from other than his father, or affiliates himself with other than his patrons out of aversion to them, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. Neither an obligatory nor a supererogatory deed will be accepted from him.»
