Sunan ad-Darimi 2525

✧ In the beginning, the quarter is to be spent, and in the return, the third.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الْفَزَارِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَغَارَ فِي أَرْضِ الْعَدُوِّ نَفَّلَ الرُّبُعَ وَإِذَا أَقْبَلَ رَاجِعًا وَكَلَّ النَّاسُ نَفَّلَ الثُّلُثَ»

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raided in enemy territory, he would give a quarter as extra share, and when he returned and the people were weary, he would give a third as extra share.
