حَدَّثَنِي مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يُسَمَّى زِيَادًا قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مُتْنَ كَانَ يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنَّمَا أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ لَهُ ضَرْبًا مِنَ النِّسَاءِ وَوَصَفَ لَهُ صِفَةً فَقَالَ «لَا يَحِلُّ لَكَ النِّسَاءُ مِنْ بَعْدُ مِنْ بَعْدِ هَذِهِ الصِّفَةِ»

✧ I said to Ubayy b. Ka'b, 'What do you think: if the wives of the Prophet ﷺ were to die, would it be permissible for him to marry?' He said, 'Yes. Allah only made lawful for him a certain category of women and described for him a description, then He said: "It is not lawful for you to marry women after this description."'
