حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ
أَنَّ عُوَيْمِرًا الْعَجْلَانِيَّ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ رَجُلًا وَجَدَ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ رَجُلًا أَيَقْتُلُهُ فَيَقْتُلُونَهُ أَمْ كَيْفَ يَفْعَلُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَدْ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِيكَ وَفِي صَاحِبَتِكَ فَاذْهَبْ فَأْتِ بِهَا» قَالَ سَهْلٌ فَتَلَاعَنَا وَأَنَا مَعَ النَّاسِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَا مِنْ تَلَاعُنِهِمَا قَالَ كَذَبْتُ عَلَيْهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنْ أَمْسَكْتُهَا فَطَلَّقَهَا ثَلَاثًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْمُرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ وَكَانَتْ تِلْكَ بَعْدُ سُنَّةَ الْمُتَلَاعِنَيْنِ

✧ That 'Uwaymir al-'Ajlani said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about a man who finds another man with his wife? Should he kill him and then you kill him, or how should he act?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has sent down concerning you and your wife. Go and bring her." Sahl said, "So they performed li'an while I was with the people in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When they finished their mutual cursing, he said, 'I have lied about her, O Messenger of Allah, if I keep her.' So he divorced her three times before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him. Ibn Shihab said, "And that was afterwards the sunnah for the two who engage in li'an."
