حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

Translation

✧ A woman from Khath'am sought a ruling from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage, while al-Fadl b. Abbas was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Allah upon His servants has found my father an old man who cannot sit upright on the mount. Is it permissible for me to perform Hajj on his behalf? He said: "Yes."
