✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was among us, we used to give Zakat al-Fitr for every young and old, free and owned: a sa' of food, or a sa' of dates, or a sa' of barley, or a sa' of aqit (dried curd), or a sa' of raisins. It remained like that until Mu'awiya came to us in Madinah as a pilgrim or for Umrah and said: 'I think that two mudds of Syrian wheat equals a sa' of dates.' So the people adopted that. Abu Sa'id said: 'As for me, I will continue to give it as I used to give it.'
