✧ Abu Musa led us in one of the two evening prayers, and a man from the people said: 'The prayer has been combined with piety and zakah.' When Abu Musa finished the prayer, he said: 'Which of you said such-and-such a word?' The people remained silent. He said: 'Perhaps you, O Hittan, said it?' He said: 'I did not say it, and I feared you would rebuke me for it.' A man from the people said: 'I said it, and I intended nothing but good.' Abu Musa said: 'Do you not know what you are to say in your prayer? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and taught us our prayer and made our Sunnah clear to us.' He said, I think he said: 'When the prayer is established, let one of you lead you. When he says the takbir, say the takbir. When he recites "not of those who have earned anger, nor of those who go astray" [al-Fatihah 7], say "Amin," and Allah will answer you. When he says the takbir and bows, say the takbir and bow, for the imam bows before you and rises before you.' The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: 'That is for that. When he says "Allah hears the one who praises Him," say: "O Allah, our Lord, to You is praise," or he said: "Our Lord, and to You is praise," for Allah said on the tongue of His Prophet: "Allah hears the one who praises Him." When he says the takbir and prostrates, say the takbir and prostrate, for the imam prostrates before you and rises before you.' The Prophet of Allah said: 'That is for that. When it is time for the sitting, let the first thing one of you says be: "All greetings, pure words, and prayers are for Allah. Peace, or peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace, or peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger."'
