أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ
أُمِرْنَا أَنْ نُسَبِّحَ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَنَحْمَدَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَنُكَبِّرَ أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ فَأُتِيَ رَجُلٌ أَوْ أُرِيَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فِي الْمَنَامِ فَقِيلَ «أَمَرَكُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ تُسَبِّحُوا اللَّهَ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَتَحْمَدُوا ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ وَتُكَبِّرُوا أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَاجْعَلُوهَا خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ وَاجْعَلُوا مَعَهَا التَّهْلِيلَ فَأُخْبِرَ بِذَلِكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «افْعَلُوهَا»
Translation

✧ We were commanded to glorify Allah thirty-three times after every prayer, praise Him thirty-three times, and exalt Him thirty-four times. Then a man, or a man from the Ansar, was shown in a dream, and it was said: 'Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ command you to glorify Allah thirty-three times after every prayer, praise Him thirty-three times, and exalt Him thirty-four times?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then make them twenty-five, twenty-five, and include the tahlil with them.' The Prophet ﷺ was informed of that, and he said: 'Do it.'
