أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ
بَيْنَمَا النَّاسُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ فِي قُبَاءٍ إذ جَاءَهُمْ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ وَأُمِرَ أَنْ يَسْتَقْبِلَ الْكَعْبَةَ فَاسْتَقْبِلُوهَا وَكَانَ وُجهُ النَّاسِ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَاسْتَدَارُوا فَوَجَّهُوا إِلَى الْكَعْبَةِ»
Translation

✧ While the people were in the Fajr prayer at Qubāʾ, a man came to them and said, “Indeed, the Qurʾān has been revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he has been commanded to face the Kaʿbah, so face it.” The faces of the people had been toward Syria, so they turned around and faced the Kaʿbah.
