- Ibn Masʿūd and Ḥudhayfah
✧ They were both sitting when a man came and asked them about something. Ibn Mas'ud said to Hudhayfah, "What do you think they keep asking me about this for?" He said, "They learn it and then abandon it." So Ibn Mas'ud turned to him and said, "Whatever you ask us about from the Book of Allah, the Exalted, that we know, we will inform you of it; or a Sunnah from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, we will inform you of it. But we have no capacity for what you have innovated."
