حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ نا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى نا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ وَجَدْتُ مِنْ فُلَانٍ رِيحَ الشَّرَابِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ مَاذَا شَرِبَ فَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ شَرِبَ الطَّلَا وَأَنَا سَائِلٌ عَنِ الشَّرَابِ فَإِنْ كَانَ يُسْكِرُ جَلَدْتُهُ فَجَلَدَهُ عُمَرُ الْحَدَّ تَامًّا

Translation

✧ He informed him that Umar came out to them and said: I found the smell of drink on so-and-so, so I asked him what he had drunk, and he claimed that he had drunk tila. I am going to ask about that drink; if it intoxicates, I will flog him. Then Umar flogged him with the full prescribed punishment.
