حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْوَرَّاقُ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْبَغَوِيُّ قَالَا نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبٍ نا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرُّوَاسِيُّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ ثُمَامَةَ قَالَ

زَعَمُوا أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ عَرَفَ جَمَلًا لَهُ سُرِقَ فَخَاصَمَ فِيهِ إِلَى قَاضِي الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَصَارَتْ عَلَى حُذَيْفَةَ يَمِينٌ فِي الْقَضَاءِ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَ يَمِينَهُ فَقَالَ لَكَ عَشَرَةُ دَرَاهِمَ فَأَبَى فَقَالَ لَكَ عِشْرُونَ فَأَبَى قَالَ فَلَكَ ثَلَاثُونَ فَأَبَى فَقَالَ لَكَ أَرْبَعُونَ فَأَبَى فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ اتْرُكْ جَمَلِي فَحَلَفَ أَنَّهُ جَمَلُهُ مَا بَاعَهُ وَلَا وُهِبَهُ

✧ They claimed that Hudhayfa recognized a camel of his that had been stolen, so he brought a dispute concerning it to the judge of the Muslims. An oath was required of Hudhayfa in the judgment, and he wanted to buy his oath. He said, "You shall have ten dirhams," but he refused. He said, "You shall have twenty," but he refused. He said, "You shall have thirty," but he refused. He said, "You shall have forty," but he refused. Hudhayfa said, "Leave my camel," and he swore that it was his camel, that he did not sell it or give it as a gift.
