نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ غَيْلَانَ نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْجُنَيْدِ نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ نا إِسْمَاعِيلُبْنُ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَوْمًا فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ إِنِّي طَلَّقْتُ امْرَأَتِي ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَصَيْتَ رَبَّكَ وَحُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكَ امْرَأَتُكَ وَلَمْ تَتَّقِ اللَّهَ فَيُجْعَلْ لَكَ مَخْرَجًا تُطَلِّقُ فَتَتَحَمَّقُ ثُمَّ تَقُولُ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ لِعِدَّتِهِنَّ الطلاق 1 فِي قَبْلِ عِدَّتِهِنَّ قَالَ وَنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ مَعَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَسَمِعَ مِنْهُ مَا حَدَّثَ بِهِ مُجَاهِدٌ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ

✧ I was sitting with Abdullah ibn Abbas one day when a man came to him and said: 'O Ibn Abbas, I have divorced my wife three times.' Ibn Abbas said: 'You have disobeyed your Lord, and your wife has become unlawful to you. You did not fear Allah so that He might make for you a way out. You divorce and then act foolishly, then you say: O Ibn Abbas, Allah the Exalted said: "O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them at their waiting period" (At-Talaq 1), that is, at the beginning of their waiting period.' He said: 'And Ismail ibn Umayyah informed us from Ubaydullah ibn Abi Yazid that he was in the gathering with Ibn Abbas and heard from him what Mujahid narrated in this hadith.'
