The Prophet ﷺ heard of a man who had divorced his wife with the final, irrevocable divorce (al-battah), so he became angry and said: "Are you taking the verses of Allah in jest? Or the religion of Allah in jest and play? Whoever divorces with al-battah, we hold him to three, and she is not lawful for him until she marries a husband other than him."
