✧ A man from Quraysh came to Ibn Abbas and said, "O Ibn Abbas, I divorced my wife three times while I was angry." He said, "Ibn Abbas cannot make lawful for you what has been made unlawful to you. You disobeyed your Lord, and your wife is forbidden to you. You did not fear Allah so that He would make a way out for you." Then he recited: "When you divorce women, divorce them at their prescribed periods" (Quran 65:1), "while she is pure, without having had intercourse." Sayf said: "The phrase 'while she is pure, without having had intercourse' is not in the recitation, but it is his explanation."
