نا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ نا شُجَاعُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو نا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ

أَنَّ جُبَيْرَ بْنَ مُطْعِمٍ تَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي نَصْرٍ فَطَلَّقَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بِهَا فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا بِالصَّدَاقِ كَامِلًا فَقَالَ أَنَا أَحَقُّ بِالْعَفْوِ مِنْهَا قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى إِلَّا أَنْ يَعْفُونَ أَوْ يَعْفُوَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ عُقْدَةُ النِّكَاحِ البقرة 237 وَأَنَا أَحَقُّ بِالْعَفْوِ مِنْهَا

✧ Jubayr b. Mut'im married a woman from Banu Nasr and divorced her before consummating the marriage with her. He sent her the full dowry and said: I am more entitled to forgiveness than she is. Allah, Exalted is He, said: 'Unless they forgive or the one in whose hand is the knot of marriage forgives' [al-Baqarah 237]. And I am more entitled to forgiveness than she is.
